Bracha Lichtenberg Ettinger 

es artista (pintora) y psicóloga clínica; actualmente es profesora de psicoanálisis 

y estética en la Universidad de Leeds,  Inglaterra y la Academia Bezalel, Jerusalén.

 

  En el seminario tendremos la oportunidad de escuchar y dialogar con la Dra. Ettinger sobre la manera en que ella combina el arte visual, psicoanálisis y teoría feminista en su trabajo.  

Ella discutirá su concepto y trabajo sobre  "the matrixial borderspace", una dimensión psícica en donde ella explora las relaciones entre lo visible y lo no visible, el sujeto y el otro, 

entre otras dimensiones. Su charla será en inglés.

 

LECTURA: 

 

Para las personas participantes en el Seminario, estará disponible una lectura que nos explica los conceptos claves de la Dra. Ettinger en su trabajo teórico y arte.  La lectura, "Gleaning in history or coming after/behind the reapers:  the feminine, the stranger and the matrix in the work and theory of Bracha Lichtenberg Ettinger," por Griselda Pollock (capítulo de Generations and Geographies in the Visual Arts, London: Routledge, 1996) estará disponible el viernes 9 de febrero a partir de las 10:30a.m.

en el Departamento de Sociología y Antropología.

Born in Tel Aviv, Bracha L. Ettinger is an artist, senior clinical psychologist and practising psychoanalyst. She received her PhD in Aesthetics of Visual Arts from the University of Paris VIII, a DEA in Psychoanalysis from the University of Paris VII, and an MA in Clinical Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a founding member and Visiting Professor at the AHRC Centre for Cultural Analysis, Theory and History (Centre CATH) at the University of Leeds. She is a Visiting Lecturer at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem. 

Bracha's paintings have been exhibited extensively in major museums of contemporary art, among them Villa Medici, Rome, (1999), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (In 'Kabinet', 1997), Pompidou Centre (in 'Face à l'Histoire', 1996-97), and in solo exhibitions at The Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels (2000), Museum of Art, Pori (1996), The Israel Museum in Jerusalem (1995), the Museum of Modern Art Oxford (1993), Le Nouveau Musée, Villeurbanne (1992), and Le Musée des Beaux-Arts, Calais (1988).
